Plus, the shots I have been doing comparing the Summicron to the Fuji have been done focusing with the EVF, not the RF. My M10 just got back from having the RF adjusted. I have owned Leica 75 and now own the Fuji 50 and although I no longer have a Leica M camera or the 75 APO Cron ASPH I can tell you it is one of Leica's best lenses It's just that I have read so many great reviews about the 75 Summicron that seeing these results is a bit of a letdown.īut if you are using a 75 APO Cron ASPH on your M10 and you are getting better images with the Fuji then you need to have the rangefinder adjusted on your Leica M10. I do find the Leica colors to be among the best I have seen and I suppose I own the Leica gear due to a lot of what you mention. I suppose a lot of what you are saying is true.
#Fuji xf 50mm f2 vs leica 50mm summicron plus
How could anyone think that a M10 plus a Leica lens would consistently beat for sharpness (say) the Sony A7riii with a loxia lens which would cost less than 1/2 as much? But I'd much rather have the Leica. But I don't think there's any question that you can get objectively (that is, measurably) as good or better shots from cheaper gear. I think there are a lot of intrinsic things that make Leicas what they are-simplicity of use, elegance of design, micro-contrast of lenses on occasion, etc.

FWIW, I like the color rendering of the dolls' dresses a lot better on the Leica. I don't think you need to look at these on a computer to see that the Fuji is sharper. Makes me wonder whether the Fuji is just a remarkable lens, or if the Summicron is just an overrated lens. Just an honest question over this.anyone else ever compare both lenses and seen similar results? My M10 was recently calibrated by Leica and I don't seem to have much of an issue at all with other lenses (21, 28, 35, 50). Two others have appeared pretty much consistent with this one. Quite frankly, I am wondering why I spent almost $4000 on a lens when a $500 one using an APS-C sensor gives me pretty much the same or better results.īy the way, this is not the first 75 Summicron I have shot with. One image after another, they either look too close to call or the Fuji just looks sharper. This would normally not bother me as it is just one example but the thing is, this is fairly consistent. While they look very similar and possibly indistinguishable online, when magnified on my monitor the Fuji lens clearly looks sharper on that eye. These are not out of camera JPGs but rather RAW files opened in Photoshop and saved as JPGs. Focusing with the Leica was done using the EVF, not the rangefinder. The point of focus was the right eye on the doll on the left. Upon doing some comparison shots I am finding that at best the Leica lens is maybe comparable to the Fuji lens, but more often the Fuji is looking sharper at the point of focus. I own both the 75 Summicron and the Fuji 50mm F2 for an XT-2.

Well, I am a little bit dumbfounded here and wonder if anyone can comment:
